Safety Bulletin #2: Personal Protective Equipment

At SLE Technologies, Inc., our No. 1 core value is “safety first,” so today we’re sharing our personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines for our technicians on site, anytime an automotive lift is involved. The Automotive Lift Institute, the guiding body for automotive lift manufacturers, distributors, and owners in the United States, recommends steel-toe boots and safety glasses at a minimum be worn by anyone installing, maintaining, or using an automotive lift.

Our PPE recommendations for working on automotive lifts are as follows:

  1. Steel-Toe Boots: Protect feel from falling tools, heavy parts, and accidental impacts during installation and maintenance.
  2. Safety Glasses or Goggles: Prevent eye injuries from falling debris, hydraulic fluid leaks, or metal shavings while working on lifts. A face shield may also be used when doing overhead work.
  3. Heavy-Duty Gloves: Reduce the risk of cuts, abrasions, and burns when handling metal components, hydraulic lines, and power tools.
  4. Hearing Protection: Wear earplugs or earmuffs when using impact tools, grinders, or working in noisy environments.
  5. Hard Hat: Protect against head injuries from falling objects, overhead hazards, or accidental bumps when working under lifts.
