Mitigating Trip Hazards
1: Keep walkways clear
Remove tools, cords, and clutter from high-traffic areas to prevent trips. During installs, designate a tool storage area to keep work zones organized and safe.
2: Watch for uneven surfaces
Mark or repair cracks, loose tiles, or damaged flooring to reduce the risk of falls. Check shop floors before moving heavy equipment to avoid unexpected obstacles.
3: Manage cables and hoses
Use cord covers or secure loose wires and hoses to keep them from becoming trip hazards. Route cables along walls or overhead when possible to keep pathways open.
4: Good housekeeping matters
Clean up spills, debris, and misplaced items promptly to maintain a safe workspace. A quick sweep before and after an install can prevent injuries and keep customers happy.
5: Wear proper footwear
Non-slip steel toe boots can help prevent slips and trips, especially in busy shop environments. Avoid worn-out soles, as they reduce traction when maneuvering heavy equipment.
