Core Value #2: Plan for Success
Begin with the End in Mind: A Short Story
When SLE Technologies Operations Manager Scott Underwood was a youngster, his father owned a home renovation service. This meant young Scott spent a fair bit of time helping out, including on roof replacement jobs.
He would climb the ladder to the roof, sometimes a quite tall and scary ascent for a young guy, and his dad would ask if he had everything he needed. If he didn’t, that meant he had to climb back down and get it, starting the process over again.
After an unnecessary climb or two, Scott learned an important lesson: make sure you have everything on your toolbelt before you climb that ladder.
TLDR:
Do you feel like a ‘Real Man’ when you carry all the groceries in one or two trips from the car? Make sure you open the door before you load yourself down with grocery bags. Otherwise, you’ll arrive at a closed door with no free hands to turn the knob.
